Juni 2023 in Berlin) war ein radikal denkender Kunsthistoriker und Essayist mit internationalem Renommee. Nach Studienaufenthalten in England und Spanien lehrte er von 1965 bis 2001 an der University of California, Los Angeles, und der Northwestern University in Evanston (Illinois).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"margin: 0 0 0.9em 0;\"\u003eSeine sterblichen Überreste vermachte er der Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin zu wissenschaftlichen Forschungszwecken. Die Entscheidung über seinen Nachlass überliess er seinen Erben — diese beschlossen, im Einvernehmen mit Prof. Dr. Wolfgang F. Kersten (Universität Zürich), für den Erhalt zu sorgen.
